To my fat community on new years…

To my fat community,

I’m sorry your peace is disturbed every single New Year.

I’m so sorry you have to gear up and prepare your physical body for the bombardment of people’s hatred of their bodies projected on you.

I’m sorry people in your life make you feel like your body is wrong because they hate their own.

I’m sorry that you have had to work through years of therapy because your body was a family topic for most of your early childhood life.

I’m sorry that people who built their platforms in support of body liberation exploited you and are now pathologizing fatness as a disease rather than healing their own internalized fatphobia.

I’m sorry that brands tolkenize you for social capital, yet refuse to make garments to fit your body.

I’m sorry that year after year we become the villain because we refuse to beat our asses into submission.

I’m sorry that your preciousness wasn’t honored, and your value was EVER questioned.

So on this New Year’s Day I want to remind you that you get to rest and relax. I want you to remember that your body is like the ocean it will ebb and it will flow. It will change, and it will grow, but you… The most essential part of you is a force of nature. You are the entire universe, a mega, gigantic, brilliant masterpiece. I am so beyond proud of you, and the force that you are.

My you remember your own magic this year, and be unwavering in your dedication to standing your ground, and living a full and beautiful life.

Cheers babes!

Your friend in Fatness,
Anna
